JOB OPPORTUNITY: Medical Doctor (MD) – 5 Positions
Employer: Survival Hospital — a private, District-level facility registered under the Private Hospital (Regulation) Act (Cap 151), Registration No. 12151. Located at Rushe, Mabira, Kyerwa District, Kagera Region. The hospital is owned by NSG CO. LTD (HQ: Geita) and has launched all major units of operation including Pharmacy, Laboratory, Laboure, Theatre, RCH, Maternity, paternity, Radiology, Emergency, Neonatal, Mortuary, and In-Patient wards. The working environment is conducive, with access to roads, water and electricity.
Position Title: Medical Doctor (MD) | Number of Posts: 05
Reporting To: Medical Director | Duty Station: Survival Hospital
Position Summary
He/She is responsible for delivering comprehensive medical care to patients through accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and preventive health measures. The role involves managing both outpatient and inpatient cases, providing emergency care, supervising junior clinical staff, and ensuring compliance with medical ethics and hospital policies. The position plays a critical role in improving patient outcomes, promoting community health, and supporting the hospital’s mission of providing quality, accessible, and sustainable healthcare services.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Examine patients, take medical histories, and request/interpret diagnostic tests.
- Provide accurate diagnosis and prescribe appropriate treatment.
- Offer preventive care, health education, and counseling to patients and their families.
- Refer patients to specialists when necessary and coordinate care with other healthcare professionals.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, interns, and C/Os.
- Ensure proper documentation of all patient records in accordance with hospital policy.
- Participate in clinical meetings, case reviews, and continuous professional development.
- Maintain professional ethics and comply with all hospital policies, national medical regulations, and patient safety standards.
- Provide emergency medical care when required, including on-call duties.
- Contribute to research, audits, and quality improvement initiatives of the hospital.
- Perform permitted procedures according to the requirements.
Qualifications Requirement
Knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position satisfactorily (Manual, Administrative, Technical, Professional, and Operational).
A. Academic/Education
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from a recognized university.
- Completion of a one-year internship in a recognized health facility.
- Valid registration and license to practice from the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT).
B. Knowledge and Experience
- Excellent clinical knowledge across general medicine and patient care.
- Understanding of hospital procedures, infection prevention and control, and medical ethics.
- At least 2–3 years’ post-internship experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Familiarity with emergency care, outpatient, and inpatient management.
- Experience supervising junior medical staff and collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.
Skills and Competence
- Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients and staff.
- Ability to handle emergencies and work under pressure.
- Competence in supervising and mentoring junior staff.
- High standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
- Teamwork and collaboration in a multidisciplinary environment.
